Often, our respected customers compare the Discovery and the Velar to each other as their top options. The midsize, three-row Discovery, and the small, two-row Velar both have off-road functionality and sophisticated features but are also excitingly unique.
Performance
The 2023 Land Rover Discovery has two well-engineered powertrains. These are a turbo four-cylinder system that offers 296 horsepower and a mild-hybrid, turbo I-6 engine that generates 355 horsepower. All Discovery trims come with an auto eight-speed transmission and all-wheel drive. For the 2023 Range Rover Velar, three engines are available. The base-level system is a turbo four-cylinder unit that produces 247 horsepower. The mid-level engine is a 335-horsepower, turbo I-6 engine. The top system is a beefed-up I-6 turbo engine that delivers 395 horsepower. The Range Rover Velar has the same drivetrain and transmission as the Discovery.
Appearance
The Discovery is the larger of these two vehicles, and it boasts a flat, tall roof with a sleek hood and a hint of curvature over the nose. The sides are distinctly athletic, with an angled air vent, a pinstripe line, black molding, and a deep accent across the doors. The nose of the Discovery is designed with its small grille and an LED bar that dips underneath the headlamps. The air vents have an aerodynamic look established by three linear accent bars. The 2023 Velar has smoother sides, a flatly descending roof, and a longer air vent. The entire lower perimeter has both thin and thick bars of molding. The air vents on the front have a two-bar accent and are strongly angled. The grille is larger, and the headlights have an edgy, geometric quality with a bent LED light bar.
Features
The smaller Velar is smartly outfitted with premium features like a heated windshield, a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, power-reclining and heated front and rear seats, a Meridian sound system, a head-up display, leather material, a two-zone climate control system, an 11.4-inch touch display screen, smart device app connectivity, a sunroof and more. The Discovery offers many features and adds a three- or four-zone climate system, a digital instrument cluster, power-folding and heated seats in the third row, a chilled center console, and other items.
With bold differences between the 2023 Discovery and the 2023 Velar, it makes sense to experience their full abilities and their premium features with a test drive. Connect with our Land Rover South Atlanta sales team to get behind their wheels soon.
